About T.E.A.M Therapy
The question of whether there is a difference between disease and illness is an ancient, century old question. I suggest that there is a difference between the two. Roughly speaking disease is the physiological description of what is happening and illness is what the person's actual experience of the disease is like. This video helps to explain this concept.
After learning that you or a loved one is diagnosed with a disease, often a period of adjustment is necessary to accept the new health status and to get into the mindset of coping with that disease in an effective way. This video helps to describe that adjustment period.
Often patients and providers are not aware of the specialty of Medical Psychology which is a sub-specialty of Clinical Psychology. Other terms used to describe this sub-specialty are Behavioral Medicine Specialist or Health Psychologist. This video describes the role of a Medical Psychologist in the care of your chronic health condition.
